During the first year of the project the InGeoCloudS platform was designed and a first implementation was launched in Month 12. The design of InGeoCloudS platform architecture was based on a user requirement analysis that was documented in Deliverable D3.1.1 “Analysis and monitoring of clouds for geo-data services” where each data provider described in detail the application and data that would be uploaded in the platform. This high-level architectural view of InGeoCloudS identified the basic logical components of the platform along with the basic technical components that were needed in order to satisfy all user requirements. This preliminary analysis also influenced the choice of the underlying Cloud Service Provider.
In Deliverable D3.2 “Cloud architecture, configuration and data access implementation" the InGeoCloudS architecture was further elaborated. In this document, the InGeoCloudS platform was designed in detail and described as regards:
For each technical component there is a presentation of the selected software solution, a discussion on the decision making as well as a high-level presentation of the API that is exposed by the specific component. More details are given on the cloud deployment and implementation and the scalability features of the platform.
