This document describes the six (6) use cases that have been selected for
demonstration in the InGeoCloudS platform. The objective is to deploy them in the
InGeoCloudS platform with the respect of a planning depending on the complexity of the
use cases. In addition to the functional description of uses cases, this document
attempts to present the main services and interactions between actors and
InGeoCloudS infrastructure. The convergence of services from different use cases has
been pursued in order to simplify user interactions and reduce the complexity of
developments on the technical platform. The document also describes the key data that
will be eligible to be included into the system by distinguishing different levels of
compatibility: semantic (geoscience data related with INSPIRE Directive), encoding
(technical formats accepted) and modelling (a model of compliance with INSPIRE
data).

Analysis and monitoring of clouds for geo-data services (D3.1.1 - Issue 1 of 3)

This document is the first issue of a series of 3 documents. These documents survey existing cloud platform providers with the goal of choosing the best provider for the InGeoCloudS infrastructure. This first iteration integrates work performed in T3.1 and T3.5 by providing a first inventory of technical components, data, volumes and services usage profiles, infrastructure costs by every geodata provider of the consortium. The document also reviews the technical and commercial offer (spring 2012 status) of main actors of the cloud computing field. It then issues architectural guidelines for the definition of the basic InGeoCloudS cloud architecture.

Analysis and monitoring of clouds for geo-data services (D3.1.2 - Issue 2 of 3)

This document is the second issue of a series of 3 documents. This document updates the previous review of cloud offer from both a technical and commercial point of view. To this end, the cost model of the InGeoCloudS platform is updated according to the actual resource consumption observed so far. The document also includes feedback and return of experience about the use of cloud technologies. In line with the first issue of this deliverable, we assess the changes in the architecture technical requirements and software components.

This report describes the functions of InGeoCloudS as a set of facilities available on the Cloud for data providers and data consumers. It specifies the main functions that shall be available from a user point of view after porting and adapting existing services and datasets into the InGeoCloudS platform. This addresses functions for the administration of InGeoCloudS users as well as functions for the support of the specific InGeoCloudS pilot Use Cases as described in Deliverable D2.1-INGC. In addition, the report also describes the result of the conceptual modelling actions that have been undertaken across the different Use Cases for the definition of a Geo-scientific Observation model that will be supported by InGeoCloudS. An Annex groups the model documentation using Linked Data standards.

InGeoCloudS Web Services covering Use Cases (D2.3)

This document describes the web services that have been developed and implemented on the InGeoCloudS platform with the purpose of supporting the use cases that have been selected in the project. It is described how the requirements specified for the different use cases have been mapped to technical requirements that the InGeoCloudS platform makes available. Furthermore the implementation of the specific web services for the use cases are described including how these services fit into the InGeoCloudS overall architecture. For some of the services their implementation in InGeoCloudS required additions to the lower level API functions.

Note about first implementation of the InGeoCloudS Pilot (D4.1)

March 2013

Starting beginning of March 2013, the project proposes a Pilot1 of InGeoCloudS. It features a series of scientific geodata services relying on a cloud-based infrastructure. This document accompanies the prototype available on the Internet under the http://pilot.ingeoclouds.eu domain name. It summarizes what kind of services can be found in this prototype as well as some operational information.

Note about fully operational InGeoCloudS Pilot2 (D4.2)

October 2013

Starting October 24th 2013, the project advertised a Pilot2 of InGeoCloudS. This document accompanies the prototype (the actual deliverable) available on the Internet under the http://portal.ingeoclouds.eu domain name. It summarizes services that can be found in this prototype in the form of Release Notes with regards to Pilot1: new services and evolutions of already existing ones as well as some insights into changes concerning the technical exploitation of the pilot. Note that technical implementation details will be covered by D4.3 document

InGeoCloudS Users Documentation (Structure and maintenance) (D5.1)

This document identifies the documentation for the use of the InGeoCloudS infrastructure from various categories of users and usages viewpoints. It outlines the documentation structure and contents, describes the tools and other means of providing documentation and support and addresses organizational and procedural issues to guarantee the qualitative delivery and maintenance of all support material.

InGeoCloudS Design and Implementation Report (D4.3)

February 2014

The InGeoCloudS platform entails various technical and functional components that are combined in a distributed architecture. This document presents main design choices and some strategic decisions for the implementation of the different functionalities in the cloud. Frameworks and open source components used and integrated in each and every InGeoCloudS main modules are reminded. The document also gives some insights in the development tools used by the teams and in main test results.

InGeoCloudS Indicators about Usability and QoS for end-users and IT users (D5.2.1)

February 2014

Since the opening of Pilot1, consortium members could experience the path towards Pilot2 which is also opened for use by external partners. This permitted to contemplate a number of QoS and usability issues when using the platform for integration of datasets, of web services in every day operations. The feedback and usage facts cover both scientists (geologists) and IT teams. Additionally some surveys towards various communities give first insights on how InGeoCloudS can be perceived from the outside. This is a first intermediate version of the collection of feedbacks and facts that lead to decisions and adjustments in the development of Pilot2. A second iteration of this document is planned for M27 where additional external users inputs shall be available. - See also most recent D5.2.2 below.

This document is the third issue of a series of 3 documents. This document updates the previous review of cloud offer from both a technical and commercial point of view. To this end, the cost model of the InGeoCloudS platform is updated according to the actual resource consumption observed so far. This document also provides detailed analysis and considerations about moving the current architecture on a different cloud platform provider.

Since the opening of Pilot1, consortium members experienced concrete practice and
new services development and integration on the InGeoCloudS platform. Pilot2 use has then been opened for free trial to other institutions. A couple of these engaged first steps. The whole process permitted to contemplate a number of QoS and usability indicators when using the platform for integration of datasets, of web services in everyday operations. The feedback and facts on use cover both scientists (geologists) and IT teams. Additionally some surveys towards various communities give first insights on how InGeoCloudS has been perceived from the outside so far. This document synthetizes these inputs in a structured manner and tries and identifies yet possible tracks of improvements for InGeoCloudS.

Final Plan for the Dissemination and Use of Project Results (D6.6)

September 2014

This document updates so-far defined exploitation and dissemination strategies. A review of the different outcomes that we could achieve so far is documented and it shown how they are then exploited at consortium level and at individual partners level. One of the main results being the Platform, we bring concrete facts showing how, by whom and how long sustainment is now foreseen thanks to committed agreements, identification of findings and common investments. We highlight expectations put by every partner in the further operation of the Platform beyond project’s end, showing that this serves mid-term and long-term objectives of each and pave the way for further collaboration and/or developments around InGeoCloudS. We also document how investigation on other market opportunities such as private clouds deployments has been started and is being pursued.
